We ordered 8 new stoppers because we thought the old ones weren't holding the pressure, speculating that stoppers have a certain "life-expectancy", and then we'd have lots for the future. We we received them, they didn't work any better than the old ones. So, we looked closer at the pump, and realized that the pump had worn out, and was the problem (after a good many years of use). Silly us. So we ordered the pump and two stopper kit. Now we have a crazy number of stoppers (14!), and a pump that works beautifully. Live and learn.
