Shucker Paddy

SHUCKER PADDY OYSTER GEAR

A collection of products designed exclusively in collaboration with Patrick McMurray BPHE, World Champion oyster shucker and Guinness Record Holder for 39 oysters opened in one minute!

The Shucker Paddy Original Oyster Knife is the result of three years experimentation and 50 prototypes. The knife’s handle fits the palm like a pistol; a 3 inch notched stainless-steel blade is where the pistol’s barrel would be, with sharpened edges top and bottom. Traditional oyster knives have only one axis, running straight down the blade, but the Shucker Paddy has two - one down the blade, the other down the angled pistol grip. That dual axis gives the knife a lot more leverage and less force required. The result, an Oyster Knife that will let you, Professional or at home, “Shuck with Ease”.

How to Shuck with Shucker Paddy

STEP 1

Place Oyster cup-side down, exposing on the hinge. Hold the Oyster firmly so it does not move.

STEP 2

Insert the tip of the knife into the hinge of the oyster, with a slight twisting motion (like turning a key) - until the knife sets 1/4" into the hinge. Once the knife is set, a light ¼ turn of the handle, will pop the hinge.

STEP 3

Pry the top shell up, and scrape the top adductor muscle - 2/3 of the way up from the hinge, on the right of the middle of the oyster – to release the top shell.

STEP 4

Locate the lower adductor muscle. Insert blade of knife under this muscle, and scrape loose from bottom shell. Enjoy!
